Expert evidence

Commission an Expert Report

An expert assists the court or decision-maker, not the outcome sought by a party. CRM accepts only instructions within expertise that permit genuine independence.

01

Initial screening

Forum, issues, deadline, language, possible conflicts and whether the proposed questions fall within CRM expertise.

02

Terms of instruction

Questions, materials, assumptions, format, fee, timetable and the expert’s overriding duty are recorded in writing.

03

Material and security

A document schedule records authority, necessity, transfer route, identifiers and chain of custody.

04

Independent research

Primary and authoritative sources are tested; instructions, third-party facts, inference and unverifiable matters remain distinct.

05

Report and quality control

Factual review, citation checks, contrary evidence, declarations, limitations and version control.

06

Procedural support

Supplementary questions, joint statements, conferences or testimony are handled under the relevant rules; substantive changes are versioned.

Typical contents

Qualifications, instructions, material, method, country and legal context, analysis, opinion, alternatives, limitations, sources, declaration and version.

No guarantee

CRM cannot guarantee acceptance, a particular opinion, the outcome or unconditional confidentiality. Fee and urgency do not alter the analytical standard.
